On April 6, national working conference on spring cocoon production was held in Sanya, a coastal city in Hainan province. Wang Beiying, vice-director of national cocoon and silk coordination office and Tangyong, vice-president of China National Silk Imp. & Exp. Corporation and other governmental leaders delivered important speeches at the meeting.
The main task of the conference was to direct the spring cocoon purchase price and increase the market management of this year. The conference called on all administrators and enterprises around the country to set reasonable purchase prices according to production, marketing and production cost so as to protect the interest of silkworm raisers. Cocoon and silk producers were hoped to make production in a rational way to avoid over-speculation, maintain stable with upward market sentiment and ensure stable development of natural silk industries.
Delegates fully exchanged views on current market situation, price level, etc. As for the wide fluctuation in cocoon and silk prices started from the end of last year, delegates considered it to witness over-speculation, endure capability and loose alliance in the cocoon and silk industries. Delegates agreed that 230,000-270,000 yuan for white reeled filature was acceptable and reasonable and also kept optimistic toward this year's market movement and export situation.
It’s learnt that over 100 enterprise representatives from main cocoon producing regions attended the conference.
