ReturnChina：Silk export to reach 3.256 US dollars in the first five months of this year

Latest figures from China Customs showed that China’s silk commodity exports decreased by 1.3 percent in the first five months of 2006 to reach 3.256 billion US dollars. Among them, natural silk commodity exports totaled 1.446 billion US dollars, up 0.55 per cent； Synthetic silk product exports totaled 1.81 billion UD dollars, down 2.74 per cent.
Data indicates that natural silk product export volume continues the downtrend. The slight increase in natural silk product export value is due to the continuous rise in price；The drop inSynthetic silk export value leads to the overall decline in silk commodity export in the first months of this year.
1、The decline of silkworm silk export enlarges. Its export value and average price increase somewhat, however, the speed slows down.
The export volume of silkworm silk in the first months of this year decreased by 8.16 per cent to reach 10300 tons. Meantime, silkworm silk export value and its average price reached 0.271 billion US dollar and 26.38 US dollar per kg, up by 28.34 per cent and 39.75 per cent respectively.
The export volume of silkworm silk in May dropped by 23.76 per cent to reach 1941 tons. And the condition is fully factored into the sink in silkworm silk export volume during Jan.– May.
The main exporting destination markets are India, Japan, Italy, South Korea and Vietnam.
2、The increase in synthetic silk export helps push up the rise in silk fabric export. While its average price and export value decreased.
The export volume of silk fabric in the first months of this year rose by 2.56 per cent to reach 2.576 billion meters. While its export value and average price reached 2.1 billion US dollars and 0.81 US dollar per meter, down by 1.26 per cent and 3.72 per cent.
The export volume of silk fabric in May rose by 12.17 per cent compared to that of same period of last year to reach 0.578 billion moters. And it pushed up the increase in silk fabric export during Jan. to May.
The export volume of natural silk fabric sunk while its average price moved at a relatively high level and its export value rose somewhat.
3、Silk madeup exports dropped.
4、The main silk product exporting destination markets are the USA, Hongkong , AEB, Japan, Italy, India, Korea and German.
5、Zhejiang had the largest amount of silk product exports in the first five months of this year. Jiangsu，Shanghai, Guangdong and Shandong came next. The leading exporting provinces and municipalities enjoyed moderate growth except Zhejiang. Guandong even enjoyed a growth rate of 19.82 pct.
