It is estimated that China will export $4 billion worth of silk products this year, and with the help of East-West Mulberry Transplanting Project, more than 870 thousand tons of silkworm cocoons will be produced in China in 2010, about 75% of the world's total output, making China absolutely the leading cocoon producer in the world.
The project has started since half a year ago. Being the No.1 silk producer in the world, China is planning to invest 100 million yuan during the 11th Five-Year Plan period to further carry out the project to improve silk industry and to enhance rural economy.
