With analysis of the production in 2006 and the trend of consumption in both international and domestic markets in 2007, Tongxiang issued guiding plan for raising amount of silkworm eggs in 2007, according to Tongxiang Silkworm Egg Purchase Work Meeting held Oct. 10th.
Tongxiang’s guiding plan for raising amount of silkworm eggs in 2007 is set to be 320,000 boxes, against 350,000 boxes for the actual distribution amount in 2006.
Meantime, the price of silkworm egg is set to be 40 RMB yuan per box.
This year Tongxiang’s cocoon output is expected to reach 16,700 tons, 28.5 percent higher than that of 2005.
Meeting participants pointed out that there is a tight supply for the silkworm egg next year. As a result, silkworm raisers should find a balance between silkworm raising amount and mulberry leaf output.
