Sichuan’s silk product export dropped to 5.48 million US dollars in November, down by 50.3 per cent year-on-year and 34.3 percent month-on-month, Customs figures show.
After a rise by 0.7 percent year-on-year from Jan. to Oct. this year, the figures also show that the silk product export in the region dropped by 5.8 percent year-on-year to 81.99 million US dollars from Jan. to Nov.2006.
This year China’s silk export value rose while volume went down. As the main silk export region, Sichuan province also faces pressure due to higher costs, volatile price and anti-dumping from India. The outlook for the silk export in the province seems to be not optimistic.
