Return900 Yuan per 50kg, Zhejiang Silkworm Cocoon Harvest Conference set Spring Cocoon Purchase Price

Zhejiang Silk Association had 2007 Spring Cocoon Harvest Meeting in Deqing county on May 16th. Nearly 60 delegests from 30 cocoon operation corporations in the province attended the meeting.
Agricultural statistics shows that 1.02 million boxes of silkworm eggs is being raised in the province, up 5 percent than same period of last year. The spring cocoon output is expected to have some growth due to suitable weather and fine mulberry leaves conditions this year.
According to statistics from Zhejiang Silk Association, among 129 silk enterprises, 85 enterprises suffered losses during the first quarter of this year. Among these, 60 enterprises suffered losses among 76 silk reeling enterprises; 9 enterprises suffered losses among 22 silk spinning enterprises.
The meeting expressed the pessimistic opinion on the short and medium term outlook of the silk production and silk export.
Based on current situation, after careful analysis and full discussion , the meeting set the provincial purchase price for fresh spring cocoon to be 900 yuan per dan(50kg), 358 yuan lower than actual purchase price of last spring.
