According to Jiaxing Price Administration, Jiaxing begins to purchase summer silkworm cocoons from July 18th, with average purchasing price at 715 yuan per 50kg. Purchasing price for summer cocoons in Jiaxing City is 720 yuan per 50kg, down 31 percent from last summer’s 1029 yuan.
Latest figures shows that the regions distributed 49990 boxes of summer silkworm eggs, down 4.1 percent compared to same period last year. Crop yield per box is expected to fall by 27 percent from one year ago to 30 kg due to silkworm disease impact.
