The government plans to spend Rs 8 crore on facilitating textile design and dye facilities for weavers of Dumka and setting up of a 2,000 MW power grid station in Godda to improve silk production in state, Chief Minister, Arjun Munda told villagers in Godda district.

An institute to provide textile design and dye facilities to the weavers of Godda and promotion of Kuchai silk, is also under consideration.

Weavers of Bhagaia village of Godda district were unable to get good returns on their produce as they lacked textile designing and dyeing facilities, they told the Chief Minister when he visited them.

Cloth woven by the villagers is sent to Bhagalpur for designing and dyeing, profiting only the middlemen, they added.
