India: SMOI organises three day silk purity check festival

BANGALORE: The Silk Mark Organisation of India (SMOI) introduced two mobile testing laboratories for checking the purity of silk as part of a three day promotion here in the city on 21st April, K M Namboodiri, Senior Executive, SMOI said here on April 21.
SMOI through two vans did the rounds of M G Road, Ulsoor, Indiranagar, Lalbagh Road, K H Road, Seshadripuram, Okalipuram, Avenue Road, Gandhinagar, Basavanagudi, Jayanagar, Chickpet and Malleswaram and also covered a couple of silk showrooms to enable buyers check the quality of silk purchased by paying Rs 20.
Silk Mark Ugadi Utsav aimed to encourage the purchase of silk from authorised users of silk mark and ensure quality of the product as total of 37 authorised users recognised by SMOI are participating in the festival.
