The silkworm breeders of Andijan region are planning to breed 45,425 boxes of silkworms this year, including 25,000 boxes of foreign sort, according to Andijan regional joint-stock company "Pilla".

Andijonnoma reported that private farmers accounted for 63.7% of the total output of silkworms produced in the region (1,528.4 tonnes out of the total of 2,400 tonnes).

Contracts have been signed with all households that wished to participate in the campaign. According to the contracts, the households will receive 15,000 soums in cash for each box. The total amount of contracts for the region totals 681 million 300 soums.

It is worth noting that during the 2005-2006 season, the mulberry trees were planted on the total area of nearly 854.7 hectares.
