Varanasi, August 12
IN A bid to keep people abreast with the importance of ‘silk mark’ label, the Silk Mark Organisation of India will hold an awareness workshop and a cultural programme, ‘Varshanjali’, in Varanasi on Sunday evening in collaboration with social outfit, ‘Pratik’.
Giving this information to mediapersdons here on Saturday, executive officer of Silk Mark Organisation of India Vivek Kumar and president of Pratik Alpana Rai Chaudhary said that tabla maestro Padamvibhushan Pandit Kishan Maharaj will be the chief guest and Rashmi Pandey, wife of senior superintendent of police Ashutosh Pandey, will preside over the function.
They said several cultural functions, including a musical performance by eminent Indian classical music exponent Suchitra Gupta, would mark the occasion.
Vivek Kumar said to ensure purity and other standards of all textiles products in general and silk textile products in particular, the ‘Silk Mark Scheme’ had been implemented for manufacturers, traders and buyers of silk.
He said that Silk Mark label was a symbol of purity and would be a hallmark for products made from pure silk. He further added that the affixation of this mark would highlight qualifying standards which would eventually build consumer confidence in both domestic and export markets besides uniting the silk fraternity together.
“This scheme covers all silk products of Primary, Intermediate and finished type such as Raw silk, Silk yarn, Silk fabrics, Sarees, Madeups, garment and Silk carpet”, he said.
