China accounted for more than 1/3 of US total import of Textiles and Clothing

According to data released by US Department of Commerce, from Jan. to Aug. 2006, US import of textiles and clothing from China reached 11.7 billion square meters, up 5.5% and accounting for 33.9% of US total import of the kind. China maintained the position as the first largest supplier of textiles and clothing to the US.
Whereas US import from China of most categories under restriction decreased. US total import from China were USD3.57 billion, falling by 18.1% and accounting for 10.8% of total import of these categories. Among those Clothing Categories, the import of silk/vegetable trousers (847) rose by 0.2%, but 12 categories have decreased by various percentage.
