Patch brochure is used to filling the gaps, however, in Nanhu district, silkworm farmers through patch ordered 2,148 autumn cocoon up to 4,531 from the beginning of this year to yesterday, which shows greater contrast against normal.
Reorder volume yeaterday jumped to 4531 boxes compared to 2148 boxes of the beginning of this year.
As Jing Xiaorong, head from Nanhu sericulture station put it：“Under normal circumstances, autumn silkeworm egg reorder volume would not exceed 30% from original level.” As the cocoon price slides last year, silkworm farmers were frustrated. The order of silkworm races in the early day of this year dropped obviously, spring cocoon order down 4% over the same period last year, autumn cocoon order is only 2,184 compared to 15609.5 last year. Cocoon rebound since the year beginning helps bolster farmers’ initiative in raising more silkworms.
Yuxin, the largest cocoon production town in Nanhu district, accounts for 60% of Nanhu’s cocoon output and it orders another 1,700.“This year spring cocoon up 20 yuan per dan in prices over last spring, at the same time, summer cocoon jumps over 300 yuan per dan in price.” As seeing this positive trend, villager Wang Yulin subscribes 7.5 autumn cocoon with no hesitate.
As Jing said，“Autumn cocoon price will go higher than last year as following two reasons: on the one hand, province-wide mulberry area decreases, as well as spring、summer and autumn silkworm egg order volume is down in general. Among which27% down for spring egg, 27% down for autumn egg, and autumn cocoon drops 40%. The decrease on raising quantity will lead to the problem that supply cannot meet the demand of silk reeling mills; on the other hand, the market warmer both at home and abroad will bring increasing demand to sericulture. The shortage and sericulture market warmer will be bound to push up the prices.
The related department declared that they are ready for increasing reorder quantity.
