Return1. Silk products trade situation in May
According to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, the trade value of silk products in May was 130 million US dollars, an increase of 254.7% from the previous month and a decrease of 60.36% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 13.7105 million US dollars, an increase of 66.38% month-on-month and a decrease of 61.73% year-on-year; the export value was 116 million US dollars, with a rise of 309.32% on a monthly basis and a decline of 60.2% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 5.7028 million US dollars, up by 71.25% month-on-month and down by 57.5% YOY, with whose quantity rising by 62.45% from the previous month to 130.64 tons and falling by 56.15% from the year earlier; the amount of silk fabrics was 4.1045 US dollars, up by 53.88% and down by 65.26% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of manufactured products was 3.9031 million US dollars, up by 74% from the previous month and down by 63.16% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 1.4812 million US dollars, an increase of 157.68% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 13.29%, with whose quantity juming 115.31% month-on-month to 246.76 tons and falling 8.98% YOY; the amount of silk fabrics was 7.6835 million US dollars, surging 799.86% and declining 61.3. % from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of manufactured products was 107 million US dollars, a month-on-month increase of 297.03% and a drop of 60.41% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to May
From January to May, the trade value of Indian silk was 1.063 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 36.15%. Among them, the import value was 125 million US dollars, down 29.22% YOY; the export value was 939 million US dollars, down 36.97% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 50.7791 million US dollars of silk filament , falling 27.65%, with whose quantity falling 28.01% to 1075.83 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 37.5941 million US dollars, with a drop of 27.78%; Manufactured product amounted to 36.1585 million US dollars, declining 32.65% .
The major sources of imports were China (63.578 million US dollars, down 36.34% , accounting for 51.05%), Vietnam (23.1263 million US dollars, down 9.4%, accounting for 18.57%), Hong Kong (9.8065 million US dollars, up 13.96% , accounting for 7.87%), Bangladesh (7.0743 million US dollars, down 31.63% , accounting for 5.68%), Sri Lanka (4.7417 million US dollars, down 50.79%, accounting for 3.81%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 86.98%.
The composition of export products amounted to 5.9357 million US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year decrease of 24.93%, with whose quantity dropping 11.61% to 844.56 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 57.0469 million US dollars, down 36.16%; and manufactured products were 876 million US dollars, a decrease of 37.09% .
The major export markets were the United States (383 million US dollars, down 31.07%, accounting for 40.77%), the United Arab Emirates (83.8945 million US dollars, down 49.71%, accounting for 8.94%), the United Kingdom (56.2101 million US dollars, down 30.17 %, accounting for 5.99%), Germany (42.2092 million US dollars, down 39.22%, accounting for 4.5%), Spain (36.5096 million US dollars, down 50.23% , accounting for 3.89%). The five markets above accounted for 64.09% of the total.
