Return1. Silk products trade situation in August
According to statistics from the Ministry of Finance of Japan, the trade value of silk products in August was 120 million US dollars, dropping 12.76% from the previous month and 21.21% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 109 million US dollars, decreasing 11.97% month-on-month and 20.94% year-on-year; the export value was 11.0861 million US dollars, with a decrease of 19.86% on a monthly basis and a decline of 23.77% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 1.8527 million US dollars, up by 0.97% month-on-month and down by 72.36% YOY, with whose quantity falling by 4.51% from the previous month to 45.88 tons and 60.88% from the year earlier; the amount of silk fabrics was 9.4414 million US dollars, down by 16.38% and 26.67% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 98.5401 million US dollars, dropping 10.48% from the previous month and down by 19.44% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 0.1117 million US dollars, a decrease of 69.71% month-on-month and 57.09% YOY, with whose quantity declining 82.6% month-on-month to 1.01 tons and 53.91% YOY; the amount of silk fabrics was 8.5559 million US dollars,dropping 27.78% and declining 2.54 % from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 1.5329 million US dollars, a month-on-month decrease of 29.48% and a rise of 8.86% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to August
From January to August, the trade value of Japanese silk was 1.253 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 18.14%. Among them, the import value was 1141 million
US dollars, down 18.45% YOY; the export value was 112 million US dollars, down 14.88% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 34.169 million US dollars of silk filament, falling 32.42%, with whose quantity falling 30.18% to 665.89 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 95.8196 million US dollars, with a drop of 18.61%; Silk madeups amounted to 1023 million US dollars, declining 19.04% .
The major sources of imports were China (587 million US dollars, down 18.5% , accounting for 51.43%), Vietnam (193 million US dollars, down 25.96%, accounting for 16.91%), Italy (69.5773 million US dollars, down 15.91% , accounting for 6.1%), Cambodia (59.828 million US dollars, up 34.84% , accounting for 5.24%), Indonesia (52.4012 million US dollars, down 17.32%, accounting for 4.59%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 84.27%.
The composition of export products amounted to 2.2398 million US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year increase of 1.45%, with whose quantity rising 20.54% to 27.55 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 83.5017 million US dollars, down 1.3%; and silk madeups were 13.8264 million US dollars, an increase of 20.17%.
The major export markets were China (43.2146 million US dollars, down 9.34%, accounting for 38.62%), Vietnam (38.8499 million US dollars, down 20.46%, accounting for 34.72%), Hong Kong (4.0457 million US dollars, down 6.55%, accounting for 3.62%), Thailand (3.6524 million US dollars, down 22.34%, accounting for 3.26%), Taiwan (3.253 million US dollars, down 17.07%, accounting for 2.91%). The five markets above accounted for 83.13% of the total.
