According to Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Trade, the trade value of silk products in September was 15.3453 million US dollars, rising 18.77% from the previous month and dropping 27.14% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 11.1541 million US dollars, increasing 31.75% month-on-month and decreasing 30.48% year-on-year; the export value was 4.1912 million US dollars, with a decrease of 5.89% on a monthly basis and a decline of 16.44% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 257.8 thousand US dollars, down by 8.2% month-on-month and up by 9.11% YOY, with whose quantity falling 32.99% from the previous month to 1.94 tons and 53.77% from the year earlier; the amount of silk fabrics was 3.8425 million US dollars, jumping 59.34% and falling 35.87% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 7.0537 million US dollars, up by 22.16% from the previous month and down by 28.14% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 1.3659 million US dollars, a decrease of 23.88% month-on-month and a decline of 37.57% YOY, with whose quantity falling 2.28% month-on-month to 32.09 tons and dropping 27.62% YOY; the amount of silk fabrics was 2.2609 million US dollars, growing 1.72% and 11.64% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 564.4 thousand US dollars, a month-on-month increase of 29.39% and a drop of 29.69% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to September
From January to September, the trade value of Brazil’s silk totaled 114 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 35.67%. Among them, the import value was 80.7017 million US dollars, down 38.56% YOY; the export value was 33.177 million US dollars, down 27.38% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 2.045 million US dollars of silk filament, falling 23.83%, with whose quantity falling 49.42% to 15.48 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 30.3125 million US dollars, with a drop of 39.02%; Silk madeups amounted to 48.3441 million US dollars, declining 38.77% .
The major sources of imports were China (47.8415 million US dollars, down 41.87% , accounting for 59.28%), Paraguay (3.8662 million US dollars, down 9.93%, accounting for 4.79%), Cambodia (3.8035 million US dollars, up 9.64% , accounting for 4.71%), the Thailand (3.6171 million US dollars, up 36.94% , accounting for 4.48%), Vietnam (3.2655 million US dollars, down 23%, accounting for 4.05%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 77.31%.
The composition of export products amounted to 14.962 million US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year decrease of 28.4%, with whose quantity falling 25.1% to 294.76 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 14.1613 million US dollars, down 19.77%; and silk madeups were 4.0537 million US dollars, a decrease of 43.21% .
The major export markets were Argentina (5.8735 million US dollars, down 23.53%, accounting for 17.7%), France (5.2592 million US dollars, down 6.72%, accounting for 15.85%), Japan (4.5359 million US dollars, down 21.45%, accounting for 13.67%), Vietnam (3.2694 million US dollars, down 49.13%, accounting for 9.85%), Paraguay (3.2693 million US dollars, down 22.74%, accounting for 9.85%). The five markets above accounted for 66.92% of the total.
