According to the Turkish National Bureau of Statistics, the trade value of silk products in August was 155 million US dollars, dropping 20.64% from the previous month and rising 2.86% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 18.6355 million US dollars, increasing 30.99% month-on-month and decreasing 19.5% year-on-year; the export value was 136 million US dollars, with a decrease of 24.69% on a monthly basis and an increase of 6.92% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 207.9 thousand US dollars, down by 50.8% month-on-month and 60.72% YOY, with whose quantity rising 15.33% from the previous month to 7.33 tons and dropping 65.54% from the year earlier; the amount of silk fabrics was 8.3383 million US dollars, jumping 40.47% and falling 46.65% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 10.0894 million US dollars, up by 28.23% from the previous month and 44.35% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 6 thousand US dollars, a decrease of 82.79% month-on-month and a decline of 0.05% YOY, with whose quantity dropping 82.12% month-on-month to 1.28 tons and falling 41.56% YOY; the amount of silk fabrics was 42.8737 million US dollars, dropping 33.89% and growing 24.2% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 93.4723 million US dollars, a month-on-month decrease of 19.55% and a rise of 0.5% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to August
From January to August, the trade value of Turkish silk totaled 1194 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 22.88%. Among them, the import value was 141 million US dollars, down 23.73% YOY; the export value was 1054 million US dollars, down 22.76% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 1.9254 million US dollars of silk filament, dropping 45.72%, with whose quantity falling 39.31% to 62.94 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 73.057 million US dollars, with a drop of 26.18%; Silk madeups amounted to 65.8326 million US dollars, declining 19.82% .
The major sources of imports were China (31.0335 million US dollars, down 23.94% , accounting for 22.04%), Korea (28.5035 million US dollars, down 32.69%, accounting for 20.24%), Georgia (22.2422 million US dollars, up 13.21% , accounting for 15.8%), Italy (16.5203 million US dollars, down 22.97% , accounting for 11.73%), Bangladesh (4.0566 million US dollars, down 3.66%, accounting for 2.88%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 72.69%.
The composition of export products amounted to 1267 million US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year increase of 18.92%, with whose quantity jumping 31.07% to 31.51 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 338 million US dollars, down 6.71%; and silk madeups were 715 million US dollars, a decrease of 28.58% .
The major export markets were Germany (224 million US dollars, down 12.03%, accounting for 21.23%), Spain (77.9366 million US dollars, down 49.26%, accounting for 7.4%), Italy (68.633 million US dollars, down 14.85%, accounting for 6.51%),the United Kingdom (68.1144 million US dollars, down 48.12%, accounting for 6.46%), Netherlands (57.2725 million US dollars, down 8.69%, accounting for 5.44%). The five markets above accounted for 47.04% of the total.
