According to statistics from the Ministry of Finance of Japan, the trade value of silk products in September was 119 million US dollars, dropping 1.31% from the previous month and 5.95% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 107 million US dollars, decreasing 1.85% month-on-month and 4.51% year-on-year; the export value was 11.5226 million US dollars, with an increase of 3.94% on a monthly basis and a decline of 17.55% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 2.2944 million US dollars, up by 23.84% month-on-month and down by 59.17% YOY, with whose quantity jumping 15.82% from the previous month to 53.14 tons and plunging 53.88% from the year earlier; the amount of silk fabrics was 8.4492 million US dollars, down by 1.26% and up by 0.45% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 96.3339 million US dollars, dropping 2.38% from the previous month and 1.8% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 167 thousand US dollars, an increase of 49.46% month-on-month and a decrease of 2.93% YOY, with whose quantity surging 63.33% month-on-month to 1.65 tons and dropping 17.19% YOY; the amount of silk fabrics was 9.995 million US dollars, increasing 5.86% and declining 19.21% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 1.3606 million US dollars, a month-on-month decrease of 11.24% and 4.98% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to September
From January to September, the trade value of Japanese silk was 1.371 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 17.21%. Among them, the import value was 1248 million US dollars, down 17.4% YOY; the export value was 123 million US dollars, down 15.14% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 36.4634 million US dollars of silk filament, falling 35.1%, with whose quantity falling 32.74% to 719.03 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 91.9519 million US dollars, with a drop of 1.14%; Silk madeups amounted to 1120 million US dollars, declining 17.78% .
The major sources of imports were China (633 million US dollars, down 18.02% , accounting for 50.7%), Vietnam (218 million US dollars, down 25.92%, accounting for 17.45%), Italy (76.9697 million US dollars, down 12.67% , accounting for 6.17%), Cambodia (64.2562 million US dollars, up 33.43% , accounting for 5.15%), Indonesia (63.1494 million US dollars, down 6.25%, accounting for 5.06%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 84.53%.
The composition of export products amounted to 2.4068 million US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year increase of 1.13%, with whose quantity rising 17.52% to 29.2 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 106 million US dollars, down 18.67%; and silk madeups were 15.187 million US dollars, an increase of 17.39%.
The major export markets were China (47.9458 million US dollars, down 9.83%, accounting for 38.85%), Vietnam (43.0864 million US dollars, down 19.93%, accounting for 34.91%), Hong Kong (4.3339 million US dollars, down 12.08%, accounting for 3.51%), Thailand (3.9162 million US dollars, down 25.24%, accounting for 3.17%), Taiwan (3.6686 million US dollars, down 15.55%, accounting for 2.97%). The five markets above accounted for 83.41% of the total.
