According to statistics from the Ministry of Finance of Japan, the trade value of silk products in October was 139 million US dollars, rising 16.9% from the previous month and dropping 8.15% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 124 million US dollars, increasing 15.76% month-on-month and decreasing 7.4% year-on-year; the export value was 14.6955 million US dollars, with an increase of 27.54% on a monthly basis and a decline of 14.07% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 2.1124 million US dollars, down by 7.93% month-on-month and 65.32% YOY, with whose quantity falling 8.42% from the previous month to 48.66 tons and plunging 58.74% from the year earlier; the amount of silk fabrics was 8.5951 million US dollars, up by 1.72% and down by 0.46% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 113 million US dollars, rising 17.55% from the previous month and dropping 4.94% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 227.9 thousand US dollars, an increase of 36.43% month-on-month and a decrease of 11.93% YOY, with whose quantity rising 17.35% month-on-month to 1.93 tons and dropping 22.48% YOY; the amount of silk fabrics was 13.236 million US dollars, increasing 32.43% and declining 15.47% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 1.2316 million US dollars, a month-on-month decrease of 9.48% and an increase of 4.01% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to October
From January to October, the trade value of Japanese silk was 1.51 billion US dollars,
a year-on-year decrease of 16.44%. Among them, the import value was 1372 million US dollars, down 16.58% YOY; the export value was 138 million US dollars, down 15.03% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 38.5758 million US dollars of silk filament, falling 38.05%, with whose quantity falling 35.32% to 767.69 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 101 million US dollars, with a drop of 1.08%; Silk madeups amounted to 1233 million US dollars, declining 16.74% .
The major sources of imports were China (673 million US dollars, down 18.4% , accounting for 49.04%), Vietnam (263 million US dollars, down 22.46%, accounting for 19.15%), Italy (83.3987 million US dollars, down 15.34% , accounting for 6.08%), Indonesia (74.3593 million US dollars, up 0.12% , accounting for 5.42%), Cambodia (69.2854 million US dollars, up 36.68%, accounting for 5.05%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 84.74%.
The composition of export products amounted to 2.6347 million US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year decrease of 0.15%, with whose quantity rising 13.87% to 31.13 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 119 million US dollars, down 18.33%; and silk madeups were 16.4186 million US dollars, an increase of 16.27%.
The major export markets were China (54.4658 million US dollars, down 9.64%, accounting for 39.44%), Vietnam (47.8327 million US dollars, down 20.1%, accounting for 34.64%), Hong Kong (4.6709 million US dollars, down 12.17%, accounting for 3.38%), Thailand (4.5022 million US dollars, down 23.43%, accounting for 3.26%), Taiwan (4.1722 million US dollars, down 13.51%, accounting for 3.02%). The five markets above accounted for 83.74% of the total.
