According to Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Trade, the trade value of silk products in October was 15.2686 million US dollars, rising 0.22% from the previous month and dropping 38.19% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 10.7059 million US dollars, decreasing 4% month-on-month and 45.34% year-on-year; the export value was 4.5626 million US dollars, with an increase of 11.75% on a monthly basis and a decline of 10.8% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 125.1 thousand US dollars, down by 51.46% month-on-month and 57.1% YOY, with whose quantity falling 59.24% from the previous month to 0.79 tons and 68.48% from the year earlier; the amount of silk fabrics was 3.4641 million US dollars, dropping 9.85% and 57.25% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 7.1167 million US dollars, up by 0.92% from the previous month and down by 36.41% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 2.5052 million US dollars, up by 83.42% month-on-month and 2.99% YOY, with whose quantity rising 57.33% month-on-month to 50.49 tons and dropping 10.8% YOY; the amount of silk fabrics was 1.6514 million US dollars, dropping 23.46% and 6.41% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 406.1 thousand US dollars, a drop of 27.39% month-on-month and a decrease of 55.78% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to October
From January to October, the trade value of Brazil’s silk totaled 129 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 36.04%. Among them, the import value was 91.4058 million US dollars, down 39.44% YOY; the export value was 37.6305 million US dollars, down 25.93% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 2.1701 million US dollars of silk filament, falling 27.09%, with whose quantity falling 50.86% to 16.27 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 33.7766 million US dollars, with a drop of 41.57%; Silk madeups amounted to 55.4591 million US dollars, declining 38.48% .
The major sources of imports were China (53.7521 million US dollars, down 43.12% , accounting for 58.81%), Paraguay (4.5273 million US dollars, down 10.39%, accounting for 4.95%), Cambodia (4.4895 million US dollars, up 19.76% , accounting for 4.91%), Vietnam (3.9157 million US dollars, down 18.05% , accounting for 4.28%), Thailand (3.7656 million US dollars, up 6.38%, accounting for 4.12%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 77.07%.
The composition of export products amounted to 17.4672 million US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year decrease of 25.13%, with whose quantity falling 23.3% to 345.25 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 15.7087 million US dollars, down 19.09%; and silk madeups were 4.4546 million US dollars, a decrease of 44.71% .
The major export markets were France (6.4902 million US dollars, up 4.72%, accounting for 17.25%), Argentina (6.2576 million US dollars, down 22.38%, accounting for 16.63%), Japan (4.8208 million US dollars, down 26.13%, accounting for 12.81%), Paraguay (3.7482 million US dollars, down 20.84%, accounting for 9.96%), Vietnam (3.6759 million US dollars, down 47.24%, accounting for 9.77%). The five markets above accounted for 66.42% of the total.
