According to Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Trade, the trade value of silk products in December was 14.8416 million US dollars, rising 0.92% from the previous month and dropping 21.56% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 9.993 million US dollars, decreasing 10.47% month-on-month and 14.7% year-on-year; the export value was 4.8486 million US dollars, with an increase of 36.78% on a monthly basis and a decline of 32.72% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 262.7 thousand US dollars, soaring 233.9% YOY, with whose quantity surging 1672.41% from the previous year to 4.11 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 4.1709 million US dollars, growing 1.83% and falling 9.7% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 5.5594 million US dollars, down by 21.32% from the previous month and 20.77% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 1.4847 million US dollars, up by 27.39% month-on-month and down by 53.14% YOY, with whose quantity rising 14.71% month-on-month to 49.13 tons and dropping 0.52% YOY; the amount of silk fabrics was 2.119 million US dollars, up by 17.99% and down by 24.15% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 1.2449 million US dollars, a surge of 113.39% month-on-month and a rise of 0.03% YOY.
2. Trade in silk products from January to December
From January to December, the trade value of Brazil’s silk totaled 159 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 33.67%. Among them, the import value was 113 million US dollars, down 36.12% YOY; the export value was 46.0232 million US dollars, down 26.79% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 2.4328 million US dollars of silk filament, falling 24.63%, with whose quantity falling 43.87% to 20.39 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 42.0432 million US dollars, with a drop of 37.62%; Silk madeups amounted to 68.0845 million US dollars, declining 35.51%.
The major sources of imports were China (67.2419 million US dollars, down 38.34% , accounting for 59.74%), Paraguay (5.6041 million US dollars, down 4.43%, accounting for 4.98%), Bangladesh (5.1782 million US dollars, down 13.55% , accounting for 4.6%), Cambodia (4.7739 million US dollars, up 5.23% , accounting for 4.24%), Vietnam (4.3778 million US dollars, down 24.55%, accounting for 3.89%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 77.45%.
The composition of export products amounted to 20.1175 million US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year decrease of 29.88%, with whose quantity falling 21.44% to 437.2 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 19.6236 million US dollars, down 18.93%; and silk madeups were 6.2821 million US dollars, a decrease of 37% .
The major export markets were Argentina (7.5566 million US dollars, down 26.16%, accounting for 16.42%), France (7.1057 million US dollars, down 9.06%, accounting for 15.44%), Japan (5.6653 million US dollars, down 32.82%, accounting for 12.31%), Paraguay (4.6708 million US dollars, down 19.06%, accounting for 10.15%), the USA (4.4971 million US dollars, down 13.74%, accounting for 9.77%). The five markets above accounted for 64.09% of the total.
