According to the Turkish National Bureau of Statistics, the trade value of silk products in December was 178 million US dollars, rising 21.87% from the previous month and 19.95% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 17.796 million US dollars, increasing 26.27% month-on-month and decreasing 29.22% year-on-year; the export value was 160 million US dollars, up 21.4% on a monthly basis and 30.02% from the year earlier. The specific product composition was as follows:
Import: The amount of silk filament was 608.4 thousand US dollars, up by 83.16% month-on-month and down by 37.91% YOY, with whose quantity surging 93.88% from the previous month and 98.89% from the year earlier to 37.85 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 8.6369 million US dollars, rising 15.67% and falling 33.11% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 8.5506 million US dollars, up by 35.84% from the previous month and down by 23.99% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 122.7 thousand US dollars, an increase of 25.09% month-on-month and a surge of 256.61% YOY, with whose quantity rising 8.08% month-on-month and soaring 246.65% YOY to 23.21 tons ; the amount of silk fabrics was 62.9519 million US dollars, rising 18.56% and 61.44% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 96.6773 million US dollars, rising 23.32% month-on-month and 15.31% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to December
From January to December, the trade value of Turkish silk totaled 1856 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 15.24%. Among them, the import value was 202 million US dollars, down 26.76% YOY; the export value was 1654 million US dollars, down 13.58% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
The composition of imported products amounted to 3.8356 million US dollars of silk filament, dropping 35.93%, with whose quantity falling 8.57% to 140.89 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 105 million US dollars, with a drop of 31.27%; Silk madeups amounted to 92.8815 million US dollars, declining 20.38% .
The major sources of imports were China (43.8605 million US dollars, down 31.46% , accounting for 21.7%), Korea (35.7885 million US dollars, down 36.75%, accounting for 17.71%), Georgia (31.8952 million US dollars, up 11.58% , accounting for 15.78%), Italy (28.2226 million US dollars, down 11.2% , accounting for 13.96%), Spain (5.905 million US dollars, down 43.41%, accounting for 2.92%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 72.07%.
The composition of export products amounted to 512.5 thousand US dollars of silk filament, a year-on-year increase of 89.6%, with whose quantity jumping 72.86% to 96.38 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 565 million US dollars, up 6.62%; and silk madeups were 1089 million US dollars, a decrease of 21.32% .
The major export markets were Germany (325 million US dollars, down 6.92%, accounting for 19.63%), the United Kingdom (115 million US dollars, down 33.2%, accounting for 6.98%), Italy (112 million US dollars, down 0.97%, accounting for 6.74%), Spain (111 million US dollars, down 43.79%, accounting for 6.74%), Netherlands (89.0583 million US dollars, up 3.49%, accounting for 5.38%). The five markets above accounted for 45.47% of the total.
