1. Company profile
Located in Jiangsu Province’s Shengze Town, Suzhou City, Wujiang Dingsheng Silk Co., Ltd. is the first completely privately owned silk enterprise after China’s liberation in 1949. Owning a product research center, it produces high quality silk fabric and interwoven silk fabric reaching 2 million meters every year, which is exported to Europe, Americas, Japan, Korea, Hongkong and other countries and regions with own import and export rights.
In 2006, Dingsheng Silk established Wujiang Xinhong Silk Weaving Co., Ltd which introduced the most advanced Italian rapier LEONARDO weaving machines specialized in the production of fabrics in series, like heavy satin crepe, double crepe, yarn-dyed fabrics and extra-wide home textile. Thus, its product structure got further improved then. Every year, the modern, fine and high-quality fabrics, such as 100% mulberry silk fabrics, silk and cotton interwoven fabrics, silk and linen interwoven fabrics and silk and wool interwoven fabrics, attended China’s Top 10 Popular Fabric Appraisals, and won “Popular Fabric”, “Functional Fabric” for many times. In 2011, the company successfully developed mulberry silk radiation protection suits, which was listed in the national research project.
In August 2009, the company purchased century-old Suzhou Dongwu Silk Weaving Factory Co., Ltd. including shuttle weaving machines, rapier weaving machines and other supporting equipment for pure silk production. Meanwhile, it introduced Dongwu’s core technicians and operators and fully absorbed Dongwu’s culture, management, technique and experience, which laid a great foundation for the company’s future development.
Since the first half of 2010, the company has adjusted its development plan to respond to the international financial crisis, industrial transformation and upgrading requirements. On one hand, it has continued to develop functional fabrics; on the other hand, it has striven to develop the high-quality pure silk jacquard home textile project, introducing 40 Italian rapier weaving machines and other supporting equipment and 20 French STAUBLI electronic jacquard machines. In addition, it has built an apparel and home textile proofing center and a high-quality silk home textile experience hall covered land area of 500 square meters in pure European modern style, and applied for its own brand “Rouma Ciaga”.
In 2011, Dingsheng Silk registered the logo “Saint Joy” in Los Angeles, aiming at building a top national brand. Tracing back to 1889 A.D., the 15th year of “Emperor Guangxu of Qing Dynasty”，the precursor of Saint Joy, Suzhou Shangjiukan Brocade Manor is a business focusing on the customization of top brocade (Annotation). The weaving skills of “Song Brocade” were once on the edge of extinction. For so many years, Saint Joy has put their efforts on saving and inheriting the skills in order to get a long-term development of “Song Brocade”. It is the first enterprise which has proposed the concept of “Living Protection” and has put it into action. In 2013, the first cultural exhibition center themed with “Song Brocade” was constructed by Saint Joy in the nation, covering an area of 1600 square meters to display the cultural development, device upgrades, technology evolution and industrialization road etc.. By showing photos, calligraphy, paintings, material objects and multimedia, visitors can better acquaint the charm of “Song Brocade”, such as the live demonstration of the process of using the traditional weaving machines and the innovative applications of “Song Brocade” in our lives.
Saint Joy is the No.1 drafting unit of the national standard of Song Brocade, and it is also recognized as the only China Development and Application Base of Song Brocade by China Silk Association. Saint Joy, as a duty since always, inherits, innovates and promotes the Chinese silk culture. With continuous developments till now, Saint Joy represents the whole Song Brocade series, including bags, scarves, home textiles, home decorations and customization etc.Since 2012，Dingsheng Silk has worked closely with Suzhou Silk Museum to be committed to the D&R of Song Brocade, making an effort for the historical treasure. And it also has become the beginning of the company’s transformation road from a simple production one into an one-stop strategic one including production, weaving and finished products .

Song Brocade is a kind of fabric characterized by the simultaneous display of images on both warp and weft threads. It origins from the “Song Dynasty”. “Emperor Gaozong of Song” had it widely spread in order to satisfy the demands of the court dresses and painting & calligraphy mounting. In addition, a weaving department was specially set in Suzhou. “Song Brocade” is gorgeous in both colors and patterns, coming along with the texture of softness and solidity. It is hailed as one of the most famous brocades all nation wide, sharing the reputation together with Yun Brocade of Nanjing and Shu Brocade of Sichuan.“Song Brocade”, for its delicate patterns，classic colors, has been used into the highest level of Appreciation Brocade, Dress Brocade, Decoration Brocade and Picture-Mounting Brocade, establishing a unique flag of art style. It has not only historical value, but also the value of science, art and application.
“Song Brocade” was listed as World Intangible Cultural Heritage in September, 2009.
