Guangxi Cocoon & Silk Industry Association，established in 2005, registered by Department of Civil Affairs of the Guangxi Autonomous Region, is a provincial-level industry organization with an independent legal personality based on cocoon and silk production enterprises combining trade, industry and agriculture. The Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is its former competent department. Business scope: industry management, information and academic exchange, business training, special issue editing, consulting services, etc.
At present, the Association has 71 group member units including silk reeling, weaving, home textile, printing & dyeing，apparel enterprises, silkworm egg raising bases and other key backbone enterprises, scientific research institutions, and academies, covering Guangxi’s main cocoon & silk production cities and counties (districts).
As a bridge and link between government, enterprises and public institutions, the association aims at promoting Guangxi district’s cocoon & silk industry for a better and faster development by fully playing the role of industry community organization, building up platform for activities, and strengthening coordination and management.
Since its inception, the association has given full play to the role of industry intermediary organization and the advantages of combining agriculture, industry and trade under the strong support of relevant government departments: on the one hand, entrusted by the government to undertake industry management work, it has provided a large number of decision-making suggestions, organized and participated in many major activities and important work in the industry, which makes itself an indispensable force in industry management; on the other hand, the association gets more and more trust and dependency from the enterprises, which have a new understanding and higher hopes on its work . Over the years, the association has not only been affirmed by the government departments,but also got praise from industry enterprises and even all walks of life.
Since the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan”, the state has implemented the “Moving Mulberry Base from East to West” project, which has promoted the “ Silk Production moving from East to West”, and just under which Guangxi's cocoon & silk industry has entered a rapid development period. Since the realization of silkworm cocoon and mulberry silk production in 2010 both ranked first in the country, their output has been the first for 12 consecutive years and 17 years respectively. Thus, the development pattern“the world eyes on China and China eyes on Guangxi”of cocoons & silk has been formed.Guangxi has become the main cocoon and silk production base in China and even the world, and also the province with the most development potential in the cocoon and silk industry.
Mutual-development with Guangxi cocoon & sik industry, the association has played a positive role in promoting the development of Guangxi cocoon and silk industry. With the continuous deepening of China's reform and opening up and the transformation of the macroeconomic management system, the association, as an intermediary organization between the government and enterprises, will play an increasingly important role in the operation of the national economy. With great prospects and broad space, it will certainly make greater contributions to the development of the silk industry in Guangxi and even the whole country.
