1. Silk product trade in March

According to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, the trade value of silk products in March was 349 million US dollars, jumping 9.76% from the previous month and 8.59% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 39.3 million US dollars, decreasing 2.96% month-on-month and increasing 54.72% year-on-year; the export value was 310 million US dollars, growing 11.61% on a monthly basis and 4.63% from the year earlier. Import: The amount of silk filament was 12.36 million US dollars, down by 14.46% month-on-month and 78.87% YOY, its quantity dropping 17.11% from the previous month and growing 38.15% from the year earlier to 205.81 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 14.16 million dollars, dropping 0.77% and growing 72.05% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 12.78 million US dollars, up by 8.49% from the previous month and 24.56% YOY.

Export: The amount of silk filament was 2.18 million US dollars, increasing 118% month-on-month and decreasing 3.54% YOY, its quantity growing 214.79% month-on-month and 6.76% YOY to 277.33 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 24.97 million US dollars, up 33.03% and 42.77% from the previous month and year respectively; The amount of silk madeups was 283 million US dollars, a month-on-month rise of 9.64% and an increase of 2.28% YOY.

2. Silk product trade from January to March

From January to March, the trade value of Indian silk was 979 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 1.38%. Among them, the import value was 126 million US dollars, up 38.1% YOY; the export value was 853 million US dollars, down 2.45% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:

Among the import products, silk filament amounted to 40.23 million US dollars, growing 21.91%, the quantity dropping 2.57% to 702.65 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 48.05 million US dollars, with a rise of 62.44%; silk madeups amounted to 37.79 million US dollars, up 31.63% .

The major sources of imports were China (53.66 million US dollars, up 22.26% , accounting for 42.56%), Vietnam (28.17 million US dollars, up 40.43%, accounting for 22.34%), Bangladesh (8.01 million US dollars, up 36.69% , accounting for 6.35%), Sri Lanka (6.7 million US dollars, up 31.37% , accounting for 5.31%), the United Arab Emirates (6.42 million US dollars, up 1111.32%, accounting for 5.09%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 81.65%.

Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 4.11 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 35.38%, its quantity dropping 27.92% to 500.56 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 62.43 million US dollars, up 32.91%; and silk madeups were 786 million US dollars, a decrease of 4.22% .

The major export markets were the United States (357 million US dollars, down 4.08%, accounting for 41.8%), the United Arab Emirates (57.62 million US dollars, down 23.71%, accounting for 6.76%), the United Kingdom (45.64 million US dollars, down 2.19%, accounting for 5.35%), Germany (38.05 million US dollars, up 0.03%, accounting for 4.46%), Sri Lanka (32.42 million US dollars, up 39.86% , accounting for 3.8%).
