According to statistics from Eurostat, the trade value of silk products in May was 245 million US dollars, down 42.5% from the previous month and 31.84% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 77.3898 million US dollars, down 47.26% month-on-month and 26.32% year-on-year; the export value was 167 million US dollars, down 39.99% on a monthly basis and 34.13% from the year earlier. Details were as follows:Import: The amount of silk filament was 6.6914 million US dollars, down by 50.81% month-on-month and 38.43% YOY, with its quantity falling 48.97% from the previous month and 40.93% from the year earlier to 115.704 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 26.8657 million US dollars, dropping 20.71% and jumping 2.2% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 43.8328 million US dollars, falling 55.84% from the previous month and 35.43% YOY.Export: The amount of silk filament was 0.9472 million US dollars, decreasing 81.86% month-on-month and 79.84% YOY, with its quantity sliding 84.22% month-on-month and 81.02% YOY to 12.899 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 38.9627 million US dollars, falling 44.9% and 40.09% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 127 million US dollars, dropping 37.2% month-on-month and 30.85% YOY.2.Silk product trade from January to MayFrom January to May, Italy’s silk trade value totaled 2130 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.43%.
