According to statistics from the United States Department of Commerce, the trade value of silk products in June was 554 million US dollars, dropping 6.77% from the previous month and growing 39.42% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 486 million US dollars, going down 7.04% month-on-month and gonging up 42.87% year-on-year; the export value was 67.4582 million US dollars, with a decrease of 4.79% on a monthly basis and an increase of 18.76% from the year earlier. Import: The amount of silk filament was 1.4637 million US dollars, rising 12.73% month-on-month and 83.98% YOY, with its quantity jumping 28.65% from the previous month and 154.12% from the year earlier to 29.81 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 21.6675 million US dollars, falling 8.34% and 15.22% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 463 million US dollars, down by 7.03% from the previous month and up by 47.49% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 2075 million US dollars, increasing 61.22% month-on-month and 184.08% YOY, with its quantity rising 2.94% month-on-month and 171.94% YOY to 4.13 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 16.1847 million US dollars, falling 17.73% and 5.1% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 51.066 million US dollars, climbing 0.03% month-on-month and 28.71% YOY.
2.Silk product trade from January to June
From January to June, the US’ silk trade value totaled 3414 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 40.41%. Among them, the import value was 3033 million US dollars, up 42.62% YOY; the export value was 382 million US dollars, up 25% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 6.6412 million US dollars, growing 27.43%, with its quantity jumping 69.36% to 176.42 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 130 million US dollars, with a rise of 22.97%; Silk madeups amounted to 2896 million US dollars, up 43.69% .
The major sources of imports were China (981 million US dollars, up 52.26%, accounting for 32.35%), Vietnam (206 million US dollars, up 40.47%, accounting for 6.8%), India (195 million US dollars, up 43.46%, accounting for 6.44%), Italy (176 million US dollars, up 51.53%, accounting for 5.82%), Honduras (139 million US dollars, up 32.76%, accounting for 4.59%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 56%.
Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 0.6101 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 35%, with the quantity falling 59.41% to 20.58 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 110 million US dollars, up 15.99% YOY; silk madeups amounted to 271 million US dollars, an increase of 29.06% YOY.
The major export markets were Mexico (133 million US dollars, up 23.62%, accounting for 34.82%), Canada (68.6305 million US dollars, up 27.12%, accounting for 17.99%), Honduras (34.7043 million US dollars, up 20.33%, accounting for 9.09%), Nicaragua (24.342 million US dollars, up 224.84%, accounting for 6.38%), the UK (12.2285 million US dollars, up 36.6%, accounting for 3.2%).
