1.Silk products trade in June
According to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India, the trade value of silk products in June was 329 million US dollars, growing 10.19% from the previous month and 27.46% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 60.62 million US dollars, going up 19.24% month-on-month and 139.42% year-on-year; the export value was 268 million US dollars, jumping 8.33% on a monthly basis and 15.26% from the year earlier. Import: The amount of silk filament was 27.14 million US dollars, rising 28.63% month-on-month and 240.1% YOY, with its quantity jumping 33.42% from the previous month and 209.01% from the year earlier to 526.3 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 18.47 million US dollars, falling 3.75% and growing 84.7% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 15.01 million US dollars, up by 42.27% from the previous month and 104.5% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 2.16 million US dollars, increasing 68.75% month-on-month and decreasing 52.11% YOY, with its quantity dropping 11.13% month-on-month and 59.88% YOY to 182.14 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 23.58 million US dollars, climbing 15.31% and 7.13% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 242 million US dollars, rising 7.36% month-on-month and 17.6% YOY.
2. Silk products trade from January to June
From January to June, the India's silk trade value totaled 1925 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.08%. Among them, the import value was 287 million US dollars, up 84.04% YOY; the export value was 1638 million US dollars, up 1.82% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 110 million US dollars, surging 117.62%, with its quantity jumping 79.55% to 1988.12 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 101 million US dollars, with a rise of 81.11%; Silk madeups amounted to 75.9 million US dollars, up 53.06% .
The major sources of imports were China (143 million US dollars, up 99.69%, accounting for 49.99%), Vietnam (57.79 million US dollars, up 64.32%, accounting for 20.15%), Bangladesh (18.86 million US dollars, up 94.63%, accounting for 6.58%), Sri Lanka (14.4 million US dollars, up 57.72%, accounting for 5.02%), Hong Kong, China (7.78 million US dollars, up 12.92%, accounting for 2.71%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 84.45%.
Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 10.47 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 29.68%, with the quantity falling 30.27% to 1156.17 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 128 million US dollars, up 20.57% YOY; silk madeups amounted to 1499 million US dollars, an increase of 0.79% YOY.
The major export markets were the US (681 million US dollars, up 7.08%, accounting for 41.59%), U.A.E (118 million US dollars, down 48.1%, accounting for 7.22%), the UK (90.79 million US dollars, up 14.04%, accounting for 5.54%), Germany (75.52 million US dollars, up 26.95%, accounting for 4.61%), Sri Lanka (62.82 million US dollars, up 25.74%, accounting for 3.84%).
