1. The import and export situation of silk products in August
According to China Customs statistics, the total import and export value of silk products was 182 million US dollars (the same below) of China, a year-on-year increase of 22.87%. Among them, the export value was 147 million dollars, dropping 10.37% and growing 26.13% from the previous month and year respectively; the import value was 35 million dollars, dropping 5.41% and growing 10.68% from the previous month and year respectively. The specific details were as follows:
Export situation: the amount of silk filament was 38.3898 million dollars, rising 67.88% from the last year (the same below), and the quantity of which was 697.94 tons, rising 45.16%; the amount of silk fabrics was 41.4946 million dollars, rising 10.33%; the silk madeups amounted to 67.1681 million dollars, rising 19.71%。
Import situation: the amount of silk filament was 5.8971 million dollars, falling 41.38%, and the quantity of which was 720.49 tons, dropping 27.02%; the amount of silk fabrics was 1.4296 million dollars, dropping 27.19%; the silk madeups amounted to 27.2078 million dollars, jumping 41.89%。
2. The import and export situation of silk products in Jan.-Aug.
From January to August, the total import and export value of silk products was 1402 million dollars, up 30.17%, accounting for 0.58% of China’s total textile and apparel imports and exports.
2.1 Export situation
The export value of pure silk products was 1150 million US dollars , a year-on-year increase of 43.18%, accounting for 0.51% of China's textile and apparel exports. During the same period, the export value of textile and apparel increased by 11.55%.
2.1.1 Export products structure
From January to August 2022, the proportion of silk exports on the three categories had fluctuated slightly, maintaining an upward trend year-on-year, and silk filament still had the largest increase of nearly 10% in silk exports. In this period, the export value of silk filament was 329 million dollars, soaring 95.31%, accounting for 28.65%, and the quantity of which was 6065.43 tons, growing 59.65%, with export unit price of 54.31 dollars/kilo, up 22.35%; silk fabrics amounted to 325 million dollars, growing 49.41%, accounting for 28.24%, with export unit price of 6.09 dollars/meter, up 7.98%; the exports of silk madeups totaled 496 million dollars, growing 18.85%, accounting for 43.11%.
2.1.2 Major export markets
Silk product exports maintained an upward trend, while the growing export to the EU and Japan narrowed slightly. The top five export markets were the EU (up 51.63%, accounting for 28.47%), the US (up 23.64%, accounting for 16.72%), India (up 252.82%, accounting for 11.26%), Japan (up 13.47%, accounting for 6.46%), Hong Kong, China (down 10.88%, accounting for 5.65%).
1)Export situation of silk filament
In this month, the EU came back to be the largest export market of China, India ranked second, and other main export markets ranked stably. The top five export markets were the EU (up 61.01%, accounting for 33.46%), India (up 331.01%, accounting for 31.07%), Japan (up 34.71%, accounting for 10.10%), Vietnam (up 291.35%, accounting for 8.83%), Pakistan (up 63.34%, accounting for 2.49%).
2)Export situation of Silk fabrics
Export of silk fabrics to major markets generally increased with no ranking changing, and the growth to the EU market receded. The top five export markets were the EU (up 89.81%, accounting for 30.22%), Pakistan (up 48.97%, accounting for 12.12%), India (up 108.91%, accounting for 8.22%), Sri Lanka (up 89.80%, accounting for 7.29%), South Korea (up 43.55%, accounting for 5.36%).
3)Export situation of silk madeups
The ranking of main export market of silk madeups was stable. Exports to Japan and the UK continued to maintain a downward trend, and the growth rate to the EU market narrowed slightly. The top five export markets were the US (up 23.35%, accounting for 35.90%), the EU (up 24.31%, accounting for 24.01%), Hong Kong, China (up 30.43%, accounting for 9.82%), Japan (down 3.52%, accounting for 6.31%), the UK (down 5.26%, accounting for 5.83%).
2.1.3 Export situation of provinces and municipalities
All the major export provinces and municipalities of silk products showed the upward trends. Shanghai surpassed Shandong slightly to be forth. The top five in order were Zhejiang (up 52.89%, accounting for 37.79%), Jiangsu (up 53.30%, accounting for 18.50%), Guangdong (up 41.72%, accounting for 10.96%), Shanghai (up 28.52%, accounting for 7.37%), Shandong (up 28.30%, accounting for 7.27%). The five provinces and municipalities above accounted for 81.89% of the total.
2.2 Import situation
From January to August, the import value of silk products was 252 million dollars, down 7.94% year-on-year, accounting for 1.60% of textiles and apparel. In the same period, the import value of textiles and apparel fell by 15.34%.
2.2.1 Import structure
The three major categories of silk imports continued the downward trend, of which the decline in silk fabrics was still the largest, in silk filament expand to 13% and silk madeups narrowed. The import value of silk filament was 37.2587 million dollars, dropping 12.78%, accounting for 14.77%, the quantity of which amounted to 3842.37 tons, dropping 16.34%, and the unit price of which jumped by 4.3% to 9.7 dollars/kilo; the import of pure silk fabrics was 10.0296 million dollars, decreasing 21.27%, accounting for 3.95%, and the unit price of which jumped 14.7% to 14.36 dollars/meter; imports of silk madeups fell 6.22% to 205 million dollars, accounting for 81.26%.
2.2.2 Import situation of sources
Among the main sources of silk product imports in China, Uzbekistan surpassed Myanmar ranking fifth, and the ranking of the others did not change significantly. The top five import sources in order were the EU (down 6.84%, accounting for 74.24%), China (down 19.41%, accounting for 5.08%), India (down 28.07%, accounting for 5.04%), North Korea (718.36%, accounting for 3.92%), Uzbekistan (down 62.74%, accounting for 2.18%).
2.2.3 Import situation of provinces and municipalities
The ranking of the main provinces and municipalities of silk imports changed frequently. From January to August, Beijing surpassed Yunnan Province rising to fifth, while Liaoning and Yunnan maintained a surge. The details were as follows: Shanghai (down 6.94%, accounting for 75.25%), Zhejiang (down 33.61%, accounting for 6.34%), Guangdong (down 34.68%, accounting for 3.15%), Liaoning (up 252.95%, accounting for 2.52%), Beijing (up 5.18%, accounting for 2.15%). The five provinces and municipalities above accounted for 89.41% of the total.
