According to statistics from Eurostat, the trade value of silk products in August was 187 million US dollars, down 56.76% from the previous month and 39.3% from the same period last year. Among them, the import value was 71.5745 million US dollars, down 49.88% month-on-month and 23.39% year-on-year; the export value was 115 million US dollars, down 60.15% on a monthly basis and 46.23% from the year earlier. Details were as follows:
Import:The amount of silk filament was 6.5536 million US dollars, down by 59.38% month-on-month and up by 6.39% YOY, with its quantity falling 57.66% from the previous month and growing 2.12% from the year earlier to 113.395 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 22.739 million US dollars, dropping 39.44% and jumping 4.69% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 42.2819 million US dollars, falling 52.56% from the previous month and 35.5% YOY.
Export: The amount of silk filament was 0.6057 million US dollars, decreasing 89.87% month-on-month and 74.57% YOY, with its quantity sliding 89.71% month-on-month and 77.09% YOY to 8.028 tons; the amount of silk fabrics was 18.4765 million US dollars, falling 72.71% and 49.48% from the previous month and year respectively; silk madeups amounted to 96.3265 million US dollars, dropping 55.39% month-on-month and 45.17% YOY.
2. Silk product trade from January to AugustFrom January to August, Italy’s silk trade value totaled 3393 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 11.06%. Among them, the import value was 1133 million US dollars, up 26.03% YOY; the export value was 2260 million US dollars, up 4.81% YOY(the same below). Details were as follows:
Among the imported products, silk filament amounted to 115 million US dollars, growing 34.31%, with its quantity jumping 20.01% to 1868.666 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 290 million US dollars, with a rise of 29.43%; the amount of silk madeups went up 23.54% to 727 million US dollars.
The major sources of imports were China (314 million US dollars, up 69.56% , accounting for 27.7%), France (93.2518 million US dollars, down 11.5%, accounting for 8.23%), Turkey (90.8977 million US dollars, down 16.61% , accounting for 8.02%), Romania (88.015 million US dollars, up 41.17%, accounting for 7.77%), Spain (66.5605 million US dollars, up 24.02%, accounting for 5.88%). The total proportion of the 5 sources above was 57.6%.
Among the export products, silk filament amounted to 42.32 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 17.59%, with the quantity jumping 19.3% to 649.507 tons; silk fabrics amounted to 515 million US dollars, up 17.19% YOY; the amount of silk madeups went up 1.3% to 1703 million US dollars.
The major export markets were France (273 million US dollars, up 13.55%, accounting for 12.08%), the United States (225 million US dollars, up 41.64%, accounting for 9.97%), Switzerland (147 million US dollars, up 3.29%, accounting for 6.48%), Germany (143 million US dollars, up 4.5%, accounting for 6.32%), Hong Kong, China (142 million US dollars, down 12.24%, accounting for 6.29%). The five markets above accounted for 41.14% of the total.
